From humble beginnings in Glasgow in 1977 to undisputed global music icons today with record sales reaching over 60 million worldwide, Simple Minds are arguably Scotland’s most revered and commercially successful musical export. Their career is one scattered with extraordinary highlights—playing at Live Aid at the JFK Stadium in Philadelphia in 1985 and the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute concert at Wembley in 1988, to name but two. In the 1980s and early 1990s their popularity soared with a string of hit singles and four consecutive UK number one albums—and has never faded since. Today, they attract tens of thousands of fans to concerts across the globe. Accolades include the Q Magazine Inspiration Award in 2014 and the Ivor Novello for Outstanding Song Collection in 2016.
Simple Minds: Song by Song takes a deep dive into the band’s entire catalogue, analysing every track they’ve ever recorded, bringing you key information, insightful facts, and everything every superfan needs to know about over 250 original songs.
