AUTHOR
Julian Earl wanted to be a vet from an early age and managed to achieve this childhood dream by qualifying as a veterinary surgeon at Liverpool University in 1981. He subsequently worked in Lancashire and then in Lincolnshire, always working with farm livestock and domestic pets. In 1988 and 1998 he gained further RCVS qualifications in Sheep Health and Production and Animal Welfare respectively, and in 2015 was awarded the status of being an Advanced Veterinary Practitioner in Sheep and Animal Welfare. During his career he was also the president of the Lincolnshire Veterinary Association and the Sheep Veterinary Society. Unfortunately in 2012 he suffered life-threatening injuries in a cycle race that brought to an end his clinical work, he is now an approved para-cyclist targeting a return to competitive cycling.
